Winterization of your boat
• Winterizing your boat is one of the most important things you can do to protect and maintain your boat.
• Also, we can shrink wrap your boat with a tight heavy duty UV resistant plastic that is an excellent way to protect your boat from winter damage!

• We recommend the following general procedures. Please consult your owners manual for specific details that apply to your equipment.
Winterization Procedure
Outboards
1. Tanks should be left as empty as possible. Stablilze remaining fuel with fuel conditioner.
2. Run Motor at a fast idle with proper cooling and spray 4-6 ounces of fogging oil in through each carburetor venturi to stall motor.
3. Drain fuel from carburetors.
4. Drain and refill lower unit with proper lubricant. Do not leave empty!
5. Lubricate steering and all other grease fittings on motor.
6. Check condition and water level in battery. Charge if necessary. (Maintain charge during off season, storage indoors is recommended.)
7. Check trailer bearings and repack if necessary. Check brake fluid.
8. Remove boat drain plug and remove and debris that may block the drain hole.
9. Elevate bow so water will drain from boat. Cover boat to protect from rain and snow. Check and drain cover as needed during storage.
Sterndrives
1. Follow all the above steps plus the additional ones below.
2. Drain water from engine block and exhaust manifolds. If applicable drain power steering cooler, oil cooler, transmission cooler and heat exchanger on closed cooling systems. Refer to owners manual for location of drains.
Important!
Check drain holes to assure passages are free of sand, rust,etc. and that all water as drained out. Replace plugs or close petcocks.
3. Remove large hose from engine water pump. Drain and replace.
4. Drain and replace oil in all gearcase housings (lower, upper, and intermediate. etc.) and service and grease U-joints. (refer to owners manual.)
5. Change engine oil, oil filter and fuel filter.
6. If applicable put non-toxic antifreeze in onboard water systems.
